.trc in the T5 format, its successor T6, and the extensionless files the Anritsu software writes all open right here — without TraceView and without Windows.
T5 came to Anritsu together with the NetTest and CMA4000 instruments, so the same format shows up under both names.
What we actually read
Every format was worked out from real instrument files, not from a description in a specification.

The format of NetTest and Anritsu CMA4000 instruments. Thirteen samples in the corpus, with distances checked against the vendor's own output — our first reading took sample indices for metres and halved the fiber.
T6 — the next revision
Read since 25 August 2026. Fifteen samples were produced on a vendor bench, and each is checked against its source on every build.
A file with no extension
Anritsu software often saves a measurement with no extension at all. Inside it is ordinary Bellcore: we recognise it by its contents rather than its name, and open it as .sor.
There is nothing to download
People look for the Anritsu viewer as an installer — "anritsu traceview 5.0 free download". There is nothing to install: the page opens by link on macOS, Windows and Linux, from a tablet and from a phone, and needs no account. What happens to the file you open is stated plainly in the terms of use.
What we do not read yet
Anritsu instruments live a long time, and the early series carry containers we have never seen. We will not guess such a format from a product name: if a file does not open, send it to ilya@cheredin.ru and we will work the format out from it.
