FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The six questions people ask most. If yours isn't here, the page ends with where to write. Or skip the reading — here's the .sor viewer right now.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in the browser — it opens by link, with no install and no admin rights, on any operating system.

What's free?

Everything the site offers today is free, with no time limit: open a file from any instrument, automatic event detection, cursor measurements, editing of metadata, events and the curve, and export to .sor. What becomes paid is the volume of work — we'll name the contents and the price on the pricing page when the paid tier ships.

Which instruments and format versions are supported?

Bellcore/Telcordia SOR in both format generations — 1.x and 2.x — from any OTDR manufacturer: EXFO, Yokogawa, VIAVI, AFL and others, including multi-wavelength measurements at 1310 / 1550 / 1625 nm. If a file didn't open — send it to us and we'll work it out.

Will editing metadata damage the original?

No. The original bytes are always kept inside the file itself — unchanged blocks are exported verbatim.

Can we get reports in our own template?

Reports in your template are in the works, next after the drum register. We don't ship a library of normative templates — instead we take apart the form your customer already accepts. Send a sample of such a package: samples are exactly what we build templates from.

How does a company pay?

For now it doesn't — there is no paid tier yet, and everything on the site is free. What becomes paid is the volume of work; we'll name the contents and the price on the pricing page when the tier ships. If your company has its own payment requirements — an invoice, a contract — write to our mail: right now a conversation about volume workflows is worth more to us than a price list.

Didn't find your answer? We'll answer against your own handover workflow and look at your files — contacts, or straight to the mail.
