What we actually read
Every format was worked out from real instrument files, not from a description in a specification.
.msor — several wavelengths
One file holding both 1310 nm and 1550 nm. Both traces are read and shown together, the way the instrument recorded them.
.sor from MTS and T-BERD
MTS instruments write plain Bellcore, read by the native parser from day one — twenty such files sit in our corpus. That format can also be edited and saved back.
Both wavelengths on one chart
Curves overlay each other, each in its own colour, sharing the cursors. It is free, and it is not capped at two traces.
There is nothing to download
People look for the JDSU viewer as an installer: "fiber trace viewer free download", "jdsu otdr trace viewer software free download". There is nothing to install — the page opens by link on macOS, Windows and Linux, from a tablet and from a phone, and needs no account. What happens to the file you open is stated plainly in the terms of use.
What we do not read yet
.csor from the SmartOTDR is the same Bellcore, encrypted — and the cipher is already broken: the key schedule has been extracted and verified. Exactly one thing is missing: a real file to confirm the container is framed the way we think. If you have a .csor, send it to ilya@cheredin.ru.
