Open an FC4000 or 980TEK OTDR file on your computer

.sor files from the FIBERCLOUD FC4000, FC3200, FC2800 and 980TEK mini OTDRs open in the browser: the trace, the event table and the instrument header. There is nothing to install, and any operating system will do.

Open a FIBERCLOUD file

Inside the file the instrument calls itself FIBERCLOUD and gives its model. All four models share one module and one firmware, so their files open the same way.

The application window with a trace open. The file name on top, and beside it the totals: optical length, span loss and ORL. Below that, the chart toolbar with the wavelength and pulse width, then the OTDR trace across the whole range with vertical event marks, the overview strip under it, and a line telling how the cursors are placed.

What you will see

These instruments write an ordinary Telcordia .sor. We read all of it, exactly as the instrument wrote it.

Trace and events

The trace with zoom and cursors A and B, and the instrument's event table: connectors, splices and the fibre end, with loss and reflectance.

Instrument header

Model, serial number, software version, wavelength and pulse, date of the shot. The instrument wrote all of this into the file itself.

Any wavelength

1610 nm included. Traces at different wavelengths can be laid over one another on a single chart.

No separate program needed

The PC software for these instruments comes on a disc in the box or from the seller. Without the disc there is usually nothing to open the file with on a computer.

Here the file opens by link in the browser: on Windows, macOS and Linux, on a tablet and on a phone. No account needed. You can open one file, several at once or a .zip archive, and the PDF report and a link for a colleague are made right there, free.

By manufacturer

OTDR Master works independently of instrument makers. FIBERCLOUD, FC4000 and 980TEK are names under which instruments are sold; we are not affiliated with their makers and do not publish their software, we only read the files these instruments write.
